Minutes
of the Meeting 11/11/03
Held at Jim Wallace and Janie Kirkland’s home
Members present: 23
- Laurie
Arizumi
gave the
treasurer’s
report
- Richard
Carroll
was introduced
and recognized
as the new permanent board position of Race Course
Certification
Guru. He
recently
received his license, and has agreed to measure
and certify
races hosted
by the
TTC at
no charge.
The TTC
pays any
extra fees
that go
to the
certifying
body.
Richard’s first job was to certify the Rickey Harrison 10K.
- Comments
on last
year’s Grand Prix were
discussed – there was a motion to change the party to a week after
the last race in the series in order to give Peter and Cycle Path time
to add points
and make any engravings on trophies etc. as needed.
The club voted yes. There was also a discussion about the size of the trophies.
The majority of TTC members
did not want huge trophies because they take up
too much space. Small but unique was the order.
- Moving
the club
website
to a new
domain
was discussed,
and Jim
Wallace
volunteered
to register,
but in
the absence
of Peter
Coleman, Gary Hoover, and Buddy Dawson (who had
initiated
the idea)
the matter
was dropped for later. Apparently tuscaloosatrackclub.com
is already
reserved,
so we assumed one of the three is working on this…
- Jack
Ryan volunteered
to do
the newsletter
beginning
in December. Members will have an option of selecting
email
delivery
or hard
copy.
- Nomination
of officers:
President – Mark
Rutherford, Vice President – Ed Freeman (same), Secretary – Janie
Kirkland, Treasurer – Laurie Arizumi (same). These people have accepted
the nominations, but the nomination period is still
open.
- Sandra
Estes
was nominated
as a board
member
- Ed
Freeman
requested
volunteers
for the
Rickey
Harrison
10K. He
has a
sign-up
sheet
for those
who
want to
volunteer,
or run
and volunteer both. He mentioned that if you would
like to
sponsor,
or find
sponsors
for this race, checks can be sent to him and made
out to
Boys’ and
Girls’ Club
of West Alabama. Rickey Harrison dedicated many
years
to this
organization,
therefore
Rickey’s race is to raise money for them. Advantage Realty then promised
to sponsor the race for $250.00
- Ed mentioned
we may
consider
adding
a new race
to the GP: Workers’ Compensation Association 5K on March 13. They
would like to revise the Kentuck 5K course.
- TTC
votes
to send
a
gift or
flower
basket
to Carol
Moore-Smith
who is
undergoing
chemotherapy.
- Sammy
Morris,
friend
and race
director
of the
Fultondale
Stampede
5K has
survived
prostate
cancer
and was
back to
running
2 weeks
after
surgery!
- Volunteers
are needed
to drive
the TTC
van and
finish
line equipment
to out of town races. Richard Carroll can possibly
help with
COTR in
Demopolis.
- Meeting
was adjourned
and food
was consumed.
